Two semitrailer drivers died in a crash early Sunday on I-94 in Washtenaw County, closing a stretch of the freeway for nine hours, the Michigan State Police reports.
The crash occurred at about 2:50 a.m. on the eastbound side in Scio Township. The busy route reopened at 11:50 a.m.
"Preliminary investigation indicates that one semi truck was entering eastbound I-94 from Baker Road and overturned, coming to rest across I-94," the agency tweets.
"Another box truck was traveling eastbound on I-94 [and] struck the overturned semi truck.
"Both drivers died on scene and their names are not being released at this time. The reason for the semi truck overturning is still under investigation."
