A 62-year-old substitute teacher was arraigned Tuesday in Warren on charges that he allegedly watched pornography and touched himself in a classroom with children in attendance.
The Macomb County Prosecutor's Office charged Francesco Iaquinta in the Sept. 24 incident at the Academy of Warren with distributing sexually explicit, visual or verbal matter to children, a two year felony, and obscene disorderly conduct, a 90-day misdemeanor. Authorities said it was his first time teaching at the school.
Warren 37th District Court Judge Michael Chupa set bond at $25,000 cash/surety. A probably cause hearing is set for Tuesday.
"As a trusted educator, the defendant had a responsibility to provide a safe and focused learning environment for students," Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido said in a statement. "Instead, he violated that trust."
