Gov. Whitmer Has Spent About 25% This Year Outside Michigan

For those keeping track, Gov. Gretchen Whitmer spent about one in every four days outside Michigan over the first nine months of the year, according to data released by her office and an analysis by The Detroit News.

Multiple former state leaders tell the News the time, which amounts to least eight weeks, appears to exceed past governors' out-of-state travel.

Craig Mauger of the News writes:

Whitmer's critics contended the numbers pointed to misplaced priorities for the second-term Democrat, while her supporters said they were a result of her ballooning role in national politics during a presidential election year.
